The cold temperatures didn’t stop the holiday spirit from shining bright at the 22nd Annual Gold, Khourey & Turak Christmas Tree Lighting in Moundsville last night. Nearly 200 people braved the bitterly cold weather to gather at the law firm’s office on Tomlinson Avenue. The evening kicked off with a magical moment—Santa arrived on a firetruck, escorted through town by the roaring sirens of the Moundsville City Fire Department. Children and families cheered as Santa stepped off the firetruck to meet all who gathered to celebrate the season.
Christopher Turak, a partner at Gold, Khourey & Turak, took in the festive atmosphere, “We’re thrilled to be able to kick off the holiday season with our friends and neighbors. This tree lighting has become a tradition for many families, and we see familiar faces year after year. Some of the families have joined us in each of the 22 years we’ve hosted the tree lighting. It’s truly special to share our tree with the community.”
The evening was filled with music and laughter as the Opus Music Club filled the air with beautiful Christmas carols. Meanwhile, Spike from the Wheeling Nailers made his rounds, mingling with guests, posing for pictures, and spreading extra holiday cheer. All in attendance enjoyed delicious cookies and drinks as they warmed up inside from the chilly outside air. Of course, the star of the night was Santa Claus. Children and families waited in line to see the “big guy” and give him their Christmas lists. Guests enjoyed free professional photos and a gift from Santa, all courtesy of Gold, Khourey & Turak. The 22nd Annual Tree Lighting was another unforgettable night—full of smiles, carols, and the magic of Christmas.
“It’s nights like this that remind us of what’s truly important—community, family, and the joy of the season,” said Christian Turak, attorney and partner at the firm. “We are honored to be able to host such a beloved tradition and to continue bringing our friends and neighbors together to celebrate the season.”
As the lights of the GKT Christmas tree twinkled brightly, families headed home with their hearts full of Christmas cheer and their bellies full of cookies. The night may have been cold, but the warmth of the community was felt by all. The tree will light up every evening at least through Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. GKT looks forward to seeing you at next year’s tree lighting.
