CORNHOLE RULES (abbreviated for the picnic)

GKT Picnic

I. Set-Up
Each team will consist of two players. A coin-flip will decide what team throws first. For this tournament, the two players on the same team will throw from one side and the opposing team will throw from the opposite side. Each player on the same team will throw 2 bean bags each to complete their half of the frame, then the opposing team’s players will throw 2 bean bags each to complete their half of the frame.

II. Scoring
A. A Corn Bag In-The-Hole is a bag which is thrown through the hole in the platform or a bag that is knocked in the hole by another throw. The value is 3 points.

B. A Corn Bag In-The-Count is a bag which lands with any portion of the bag resting on the cornhole platform. The value is 1 point. A bag must not touch the ground prior to landing on the platform. A bag that touches the ground before landing on the platform is a foul and must be removed from the platform before continuing play. In addition, a bag hanging on the board surface but touching the ground is a foul and must be removed before play continues.

Note: Points will be tallied and awarded after a team has thrown all 4 bean bags.

III. Length of Game
For this tournament, the match shall be played until a team reaches or exceeds 21 points or a maximum of 10 frames. A match cannot end in the middle of a frame. Thus, if a team that pitches first in a frame reaches or exceeds 21 points, the game cannot end until the other side is allowed to pitch all of their bags. If the game is tied at 21 at the end of a frame, the game shall continue until one team achieves a higher score at the end of a frame.

IV. Foul Corn Bags (abbreviated rules)
A. A bag cannot touch the ground prior to landing on the platform. A bag resting on the board is not allowed to be touching the ground. Bags must be removed before play continues.

B. Each player must pitch the bag from the side of the platform and remain behind the foul line.

C. Any bag that leaves a player’s hand after the forward pitching motion has begun is considered a pitch. A bag that is accidentally dropped before the forward pitching motion is not a foul and can be picked up and pitched.

***EACH TEAM SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE CORNHOLE AREA AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED GAME TIME. PLEASE LISTEN FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS IN CASE THE GAME BEFORE YOUR GAME FINISHES EARLY.
