Cornhole Tournament Special thanks to Phillip Chaddock for making the cornhole boards for us. Cornhole has grown in popularity this year, especially among college students. The game is similar to horseshoes but instead of horseshoes, bean bags filled with corn are used. The bean bags are tossed at a board made of plywood set at an incline with a hole in the board. The goal is to toss the bean bag in the hole, or so that it lays on the board. Click American Cornhole Association for official rules and additional information. For the purpose of our picnic, rules will be modified so that the tournament can be completed within the time frame of the picnic. Click here for our picnic Cornhole Tournament Rules A 12-team (2 players per team) single-elimination tournament will begin approximately 1:30 p.m. with the championship game held around 3:10 p.m.. Two courts will be used. The bracket will be established as teams register. To Register: We prefer only one team per department. Teams should register at the welcome table as they enter the picnic grounds. We expect the tournament will fill quickly, so arrive early to claim a spot. Prize: The 1st and 2nd place teams will receive plaques. The 1st place team will also receive $100 cash, courtesy of Gold, Khourey & Turak. Who Can Participate: We ask that only law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders participate. We may allow a family member to team with one of the above, but we encourage and prefer family members to allow the departments participate. |
