"We just want to recognize and say thank you to the individuals on the front lines that keep our families, our clients and their families, and our communities safe every day. We appreciate the services they provide us throughout the entire year."

Thank you to those who helped and continue to help
with local flood relief efforts

This year’s picnic was originally scheduled for Sunday, September 19th, but was rescheduled to Saturday, October 2nd due to the flooding as a result from the torrential rains left behind by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan and of Francis the week before. Many of our friends and neighbors were affected, including members of our staff, and our thoughts and prayers remain with you through your clean-up efforts.

Despite being rescheduled, nearly 350 law enforcement officials, firefighters, first responders and their family members attended the picnic. In addition, several representatives from FEMA and the S.B.A. took a moment out of their busy day to join us.

For the second consecutive year, the event was held at the National Corrections & Law Enforcement Training & Technology Center (NCLETTC), or also known simply as the Moundsville Center. The NCLETTC is located inside the former West Virginia Penitentiary and occupies a portion of the North Yard. The NCLETTC has 1 acre under cover and provided the perfect atmosphere for the event.

Activities for those to enjoy included Sumo Wrestling, Sticky Golf, Bounce House, Speed Pitch, Basketball Bounce, craft station, Nailers Puck Shoot, and the firearms simulator. Eric Rowe from Rent-A-Center, donated a Big Screen TV so guests could keep up with their favorite college team and Smoke Daddy & The Crawfish provided live music throughout the afternoon. Chef James and his staff from Café Burress offered an incredible menu, complete with grilled to order steaks and desserts. A special thanks to Kenny Rhodes from E-One for displaying some of their local firetrucks, and to Joe Cuchta of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department for Fingerprinting the children.

The annual picnic is provided courtesy of Gold, Khourey& Turak in honor of our local law enforcement officials, first responders, and firefighters who help keep our communities safe throughout the year.
