Literacy Volunteers of Marshall & Ohio CountiesLITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF MARSHALL & OHIO COUNTIES is a local, non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the reading and writing skills of those in need. We offer free, confidential, one-on-one basic reading improvement instruction in a non-threatening environment. Although we are a Marshall & Ohio Counties Chapter, our services extend beyond these counties and we will assist you in getting the help you need. In Marshall and Ohio Counties alone there are between 8,000 - 10,000 functionally illiterate adults. Across the entire Ohio Valley, the numbers are even more alarming. These may be your friends, neighbors, and even family members. This means they are unable to complete a job application, do their own taxes, read the back of a prescription bottle, or even read to their children. Please help us help them. The LV-MOC helps nearly 60 individuals a week to obtain the reading and writing skills necessary to function productively in today's society. To find out additional information about our organization, or to become a tutor, please contact Geneva Templin at the LV-MOC office at 233-1882.
