Gold, Khourey, and Turak Join Nailers to Hold
3rd Annual High School Hockey Challenge

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers and Gold, Khourey, and Turak are hosting the third annual High School Hockey Challenge for local high schools during the intermissions at upcoming games. The Moundsville law firm wanted to team with the Nailers to improve the quality of hockey in the area, and to provide an opportunity for younger, high school players to interact with professional athletes.

The challenge will feature four local high school teams that will compete in a variety of events: Speed Skating, Agility, Team Relay, and Breakaway. The agility and team relay are new events this year, replacing the hardest shot competition. Each school will be represented by three players and one goalie. Participants are selected by the coaches of each team.

The teams participating are Wheeling Park, Wheeling Central, John Marshall, and Linsly. Belmont County has a team and will take part in the Nailer hosted practices but not in the competition.

Along with the skills challenge, Wheeling Nailers players and coaches visited each team’s practice to run drills and work on some fundamentals. The Nailers worked with all four teams by instructing their practice for a day and offered advice as to what the players should work on during their free time to improve themselves as hockey players. In addition, each school receives 25 tickets, courtesy of Gold, Khourey & Turak.
