Trooper Tom
Wood is a 13-year veteran of the West
Virginia State Police. Throughout his career he has spent three
years as a K-9 Handler and has been a member of the department's
Special Response Team (SRT) for more than 7 years. He has investigated
crimes ranging from murders to drinking and driving. He has been
a trooper for the Martinsburg, Petersburg, and Moundsville detachments.
Most Memorable
Moment: In 1995 several escapees from a West Virginia detention
center went on a killing spree, terrorizing numerous counties in
the southern part of the State. Residents feared for their lives,
much like the sniper incidents in Washington D.C.. Trooper Wood
joined in the statewide manhunt and, after engaging in a shootout
with the suspects, played a role in apprehending the criminals.
