Thank you for your interest in the Booze and Cruise, You'll Lose program.  Unlike typical programs, our visits to schools are not just lectures about alcohol, drugs and driving. You won't see photos of crash victims, nor be inundated with statistical information. Through an interactive assembly, students are encouraged and rewarded for their active participation during our presentation.  Information is shared and learned through debate, discussion, interaction, and demonstration.  The severe consequences of drinking and driving including loss of life and limb, the rigors of the criminal process, and the economic costs associated with a driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs are covered.  Read comments from students and teachers.

Participants are given the opportunity to interact with a  trooper from the West Virginia State Police, a representative from WTOV-TV 9, West Virginia Northern Community College, members of the Wheeling Nailers, and Christopher Turak, an attorney with Gold, Khourey & Turak who also serves as the Booze and Cruise, You'll Lose coordinator.

Chris Turak kicks off the program with questions from the Booze Buster Quiz that the students completed prior to the assembly. Students who respond with correct answers get cool prizes like t-shirts, Nailers tickets, autographed hockey sticks, can coolers, key chains, and more.

The next part of the program is a mock DUI arrest. Our West Virginia State Trooper explains all about DUI's and busts all of the myths surrounding drunk driving. One lucky student is chosen to participate in the mock DUI arrest. With the use of "fatal vision goggles," the student simulates 0.10 intoxication and is taken through the rigors of a DUI arrest by the WV State Trooper. This can be very entertaining!

New to the program this year is a video presentation of a real DUI arrest. If you like the show COPS, you'll love this! The goal of the program is to instill in our students the need to make safe choices. We want them to have fun while they learn, and leave the program determined to avoid the dangers of drinking and driving.
