Mock Crash/Trial

As an extension of the Booze and Cruise, You’ll Lose program, Gold, Khourey & Turak presents a mock D.U.I. crash and D.U.I. trial. This year, all participating schools are invited to West Virginia Northern Community College's Wheeling campus to enjoy the event. Students will witness a live action D.U.I. scene where emergency personnel and police officers handle it just like a real crash. Depending on the scenario, there could be serious life-threatening injuries or even death.

The drunk driver is administered field sobriety tests and arrested. Students will then be onlookers at a mock D.U.I. trial, where the drunk driver from the crash is placed on trial for D.U.I. Real attorneys serve as prosecuting and defense attorneys, while an actual Judge serves as judge and handles the courtroom as close to a real trial as possible. The mock crash & trial presentations provide real-life educational opportunities for the students.

Aside from emphasizing the seriousness of impaired driving, the students also have the opportunity to interact with a Judge and attorneys. Students will be educated and actively participate in proper courtroom etiquette and procedure.
