  2007 Scenario

On Saturday, May 5th, after a magical evening at Undo’s in St. Clairsville, everyone changes and heads to the after prom at the high school. Around
2:30 a.m., Courtney King, Caroline McCabe, and Justin Patterson get bored and decide to leave the after prom. They each lied to their parents and obtained permission to leave. Justin and Caroline planned to drink. While Courtney didn’t want to drink, there wasn’t anything else to do so she decides to go with them anyway.

Justin pulls into the old Hardee’s parking lot, turns on the radio, and grabs a few beers from his trunk. Caroline willingly participates, but Courtney isn’t feeling well and decides not to drink. Courtney recognizes that Justin and Caroline are starting to become loud, and realizes Justin should not be driving in his condition. Courtney repeatedly asks Justin for his keys, but he refuses and says he does not allow anyone to drive his car. She considers calling her parents to come get her, but she doesn’t want to get in trouble. Courtney is upset at Justin and begins to yell at him to take her back to her car at school. Justin agrees that he and Caroline can have more fun without her and peels out of the lot. He speeds down Rt. 7 and turns onto Hanover without any regard to the other drivers. Courtney pleads with him to slow down but he just drives faster, running several stop signs along the way. All of a sudden, both Courtney and Caroline scream, “Watch Out!” Justin’s vehicle is out of control, goes left of center, and hits a car that is stopped at the intersection by Convenient. In the car are classmates Derrick Ernes, Kayla Mackey, and Kelsea Redinger.
