Law Enforcement & Fire Safety Appreciation Day 2003Saturday, September 27, 2003 Everyone who went through the simulation, or simply had the opportunity to shoot, really enjoyed the AIS PRISM Firearm Simulator. Most individuals referred to it as a big video game for adults. For those who have not had the opportunity to try it, you enter a room and stand approximately 25 feet from a large pull down screen. In the corner on your left is a complex computer system. The operator is able to select a scenario from more than 400 options in the computer. The chosen scenario is then projected onto a big screen, and participants use modified guns to engage "bad guys" on the screen. The guns are real guns, the only difference is that the barrel of the guns are altered to include a laser sensor that is picked up on the screen when the trigger is pulled. The computer system is able to determine the time it took for the participant(s) to engage, as well as determine the accuracy of the shots fired. You can understand how the simulation can be important in law enforcement and correction training. Those interested in going through the simulation, or wanting additional information, should contact Steve Morrison or Mike Logsdon at the NCLETTC at 843-4147. Special thanks to Sondra Lucas and Mike Logsdon at the NCLETTC for operating and scoring the simulator competition at this year's picnic. 2nd Annual Firearm Simulator Competition - 2003 Results Individual: Team:
