The 5th Annual Law Enforcement & Fire Safety Appreciation Picnic was a huge success. Despite rainy conditions, more than 500 law enforcement officials, firefighters and family members attended the event, making this year's event the most attended of the 5 years.

This year's picnic was held at the National Corrections & Law Enforcement Training & Technology Center (NCLETTC), or also known simply as the Moundsville Center. The NCLETTC is located inside the former West Virginia Penitentiary and occupies a portion of the North Yard. The NCLETTC has 1 acre under cover and offered the perfect atmosphere for this year's event.

Activities inside for those to enjoy included a Velcro Wall, craft station, firearm simulator, the NCLETTC's technology center, speed pitch machine, and performances by the River City Dancers. Guests were able to venture outside and fill their plates with a variety of food catered by Café Burress and listen to live music provided by Smoke Daddy & The Crawfish. People of all ages enjoyed looking at the firetrucks displayed at the picnic by E-One. Law enforcement and fire personnel who registered at the welcome reception table were given a free t-shirt commemorating this year's picnic (limited supply). In addition, free, limited tours of the West Virginia Penitentiary were given on a first-come first served basis.

The annual picnic is provided courtesy of Gold, Khourey & Turak in honor of our local heros.
